Warn. Issue with Lenovo

#1 Post by Truthfinder » Thu Jan 04, 2007 1:42 am

I purchased a new ThinkPad two months ago and the 9volt battery (SANYO) began to fail from the first day.
I contacted IBM / LEVENO and they said they would send me out a replacement battery, which would arrive in 5-10 days. Well, it's been nearly a month and no battery.....
Today I called and gave them my case number and was told that the batteries are still on back order and it will arrive when they come in.

My question is this: How are they selling new ThinkPads if they have such a shortage of batteries? Or, is the shortage only for warn. related issues? I bet that if I called to purchase a new battery, it would show up in a few days..................

What has happened with IBM.............. Lenovo is what happened..............

If this keeps up, I will not but ThinkPads in the future. There are plenty of great Laptop companies out there who make great products..................

I'm sorry to hear about what happened to you. FYI, I ordered a new battery for my X60s three weeks ago and indeed it took Lenovo only four days to ship it from Hong Kong to Providence RI!

@Truthfinder,

You are NOT the only one encountering this problem. In Singapore, the service from them depend on their mood. As i have mentioned in another thread, it really depend on their moods. :twisted:

My recalled batteries were finally exchanged to another new battery from Sony but after 3 cycles, the battery died and when i tried to explain to IBM/Lenovo through email, they never replied, so i use traditional chinese to explain my problem and they tell me to give them a call. So i call them and in the end they told me that i have to wait for 4 weeks for the new battery to arrive which means my X60 and T60 notebooks are without battery because it died after 3 cycles and the other one after 8 cycles. So i have waited till now which is already well off 2 months and no batteries arrived YET!!!

I have written an email in chinese language to Lenovo chairman (China) and also send a carbon copy to singapore Lenovo. I don\'t know what they are going to tell me again. I am really [censored] off by them but i don\'t want to rant on about this too much because i loved the members here and i don\'t want to dampen their spirit on whether they should buy an IBM/Lenovo thinkpad or not. Anyway, some of the support engineers in Singapore (e.g: Mr Lim Po San & his fellow colleagues) are very polite and extremely helpful and i liked their service. :-)

Good Luck and pray for the batteries which arrived will not die again after a few cycles. :evil: :evil: :-(

I have started looking for a new laptop which is a Fujitsu Lifebook

USER EDIT: edited the offensive words and replace it with something else

Hey christopher,

you can quote the words and read it from there. I make it small because i am embarassed for my own actions and that is for nonny to read. :-)

Sorry to the thread OP for ranting, posting offensive words and a bit too off-topic. :oops:
