Centrino Duo Vs. Turion 64 X2

Any thoughts which one is better?

For use in a laptop? I would still have to go with the Core 2 Duo and Core Duo due to the edge it has in terms of power efficiency. That and most seem not to know what AMD is going to introduce next in the mobile market or whether or not it will be an extension of the Turion.

All my experiences with Turions have been OK, with the exception of shorter than average battery life, mainly due to the machines it was in and not necessarily the CPU, and driver problems because most such systems come preloaded with some form of Windows XP 64 for which it is difficult to find drivers for.

Interesting.

Will it make any difference on Vista's performance considering both Vista and the AMD Turion X2 are 64 bit OS and chip respectively in comparison to Intel's Core Duo 32 bit counterpart?

Not really, the C2D Meroms, both the C2Ds now and the later C Duo Pros when Santa Rosa comes out, support 64bit through Intel64/EMT64 which is very similar to AMD64. Vista will run on one just as it would run on the other. :)

Very true. C2D is better in all departments except when it comes to pocket.

Actually I have never got to experience an AMD Turion 64 X2 based computer so am just excited to get my hands on one. The only enounter I had ever with an AMD processor was with Athlon 64 X2 in some compaq notebook, it was a burning heater.
