Counting the "explosions" and their intensities, I'd say that was a 6-cell battery pack. One wonders if they had adequate ventilation during this exercise. I noticed that there seemed to be a definite left-to-right breeze but also that the demo may have taken place in a room. Makes my light-emitting transistor experiment kind of pale...
