Chinese computer manufacturer Lenovo Group has been named in a lawsuit alleging that the company violated patents owned by plaintiff 3M Co.
3M announced Thursday that it is suing both Lenovo, which has its U.S. headquarters in Morrisville, and Sony Corp., alleging the companies violated two patents related to lithium-ion battery technology, according to court documents.
Maplewood, Minn.-based 3M (NYSE: MMM) filed a suit Wednesday in the U.S. District Court of Minnesota. In its complaint, 3M said, "3M has suffered, and will continue to suffer, irreparable injury and damages". 3M wants an injunction prohibiting the companies from infringing its battery patents. It also seeks unspecified financial damages.
