Cnet news reports that all Lenovo computers (this includes Thinkpads) will have Windows Live software set as default instead of Google applications. Google lovers will have set up everything they want manually.

I have finally rejoined the dark side.

Does anyone use any of these indexing (pronounced as: slwoing down your system) destop "search engines"? I have always been a organization freak and keep my folders-subfolders-subfolders named in a way I won't forget where I put something. This habit is mainly due to my work - I have to keep track of papers I read and if I don't keep them in proper places, I'll go crazy finding them again. Unless a file is way, way old and I have not seen it in a long while, I do not use even the windows search.

I am precisely like that and I disable instantly all this google and live stuff. I think by disabling everything *cool* on sight is one reason why my CPU runs at less than 2 percent on average more than 95 percent of the time for years on end.gator wrote:<snip> I have always been a organization freak and keep my folders-subfolders-subfolders named in a way I won't forget where I put something. <snip>

Another vote for keeping some semblance of order on my computers.
Things are kept in logically named and indexed folders and I have no need for Google desktop, nor AIM, Windows IM, etc., etc.
I need my CPU cycles for performing WORK that keeps the wolf from the door.
