WPA 2 Wireless Encryption And Connection Manager

#1 Post by Casper118 » Tue Mar 20, 2007 4:13 am

Howdy,

Maybe someone here can be of some assistance. I have a non IBM Laptop. It is using a W-NWEB 802.11ABG INTERNAL MINI PCI WIRELESS ADAPTER Tonight. I tried to connect to a network here at work. We use the WPA2 AES Encryption. The WNIC Connection Manager is something called Atheros Client Utility. This connection software has WPA2 on there but not the AES or TKIP Encryption.

So here are the two questions.

1) How does someone add AES and TKIP Encryption? I know its supported by the card by reading the detailed specs.

2) What are some good Connection Managers for managing multiple wireless connections?

Thanks for all the help.

I'm using the Windows built-in utility for connecting on my T30.
The Atheros program is incomplete I find. My card (see sig) does WPA2 as well but I have nowhere to test it.

In the Atheros util, if you select (under the Security Tab) WPA/WPA2 Passphrase, it uses TKIP encryption.
Some alternative Connection Managers:
- JitBit Net Profile Switch
- BVRP ConnectionManager Pro (probably the better one)
