Office 2007 Question

#1 Post by Stargate199 » Thu Mar 29, 2007 11:35 am

I'm about to get a copy of Office 2007 Professional in the next few days. I was wondering if anyone knew how many computers does the EULA dictate I can install Office 2007 on. I believe it was 2 computers in the past versions. Has the number changed, or is it the same? Thanks in advance!

If you download the FREE OpenOffice, you would never have to worry about that, AND it keeps you flush for quite a bit longer.

I know about OpenOffice. My dad's company has just started their Office distribution program, so my family is entitled to a copy of Office 2007 Professional. I have used it once or twice and really like it.

According to an article on CNET:
You're allowed to install Office 2007 software on two computers; you must agree to download updates whenever Microsoft decides you need them; and Microsoft may verify your license key at any time to make sure that you're not using pirated software.
edit: Hmm.. seems like that review is on the Standard edition.. still looking on microsoft.com for words from the horse's mouth...

edit: Okay, this seems to be it:

EULA Office Professional 2007.pdf

Reading (well, okay, searching) it seems to say that you can install it on one "licensed device" and one "portable device".

After digging around the Microsoft website, I found a copy of EULA. It states that Office 2007 can be installed on one primary machine and one portable machine. So it looks like I can only install it on two computers unless somehow I get the volume license copy (which is unlikely).

I've never really grown accustomed nor fond of OO for some reason...sure, it's a good open source package, but I just feel more "at home" with MS Office.

To confirm as well, I have a downloaded copy (purchased legally, of course - for $75AUD thanks to a limited offer by MS to Australian university students) of Office 2007 Ultimate installed on both my T40 and X31 and had no activation problems whatsoever.
