SanDisk Cruzer Mini's have been a particular fav of mine. Have had a 256MB now for three years, heavy daily usage, not a problem one yet. Very good build quality.

I also have a PNY 1GB that I use only when I have to. Poor build quality, not as fast as the SanDisk.

I love SanDisk products and own their brand thumb drives and SD cards. Check the website for circuitcity.com, they quite frequently run nice internet only sales on the site for big discounts. I got my thumb drives there last year for $15 and a 2GB SD card for $9.95 (after rebate). I use them a lot and never had any corruption problems.

Edit to say that my thumb drive is the Cruzer Mini too and they give you three colored "jackets" for the drive.

I like the thin profile of PQI intelligent stick (google image link) because I can keep it in my wallet. Not many thumbdrives allow me to do that.

Here is a report of several different USB2.0 drive. It seems like there are indeed lots of difference in terms of speed among different drive.

Actually, I use a Lexar Jumpdrive Trio, similar to this one, so that I can insert my SD cards into it and switch them around as needed. I alternate between my 3 1GB SD cards and share information with my Dell Axim X51v, laptops, digital cameras and work PCs. With being able to remove the SD card, I can also share files with almost limitless capabilities.

The original Lexar jumpdrive only had the ability to handle three different cards (SD, MMC and Memory Stick). The newer versions can handle 5 different memory cards, including Memory Stick Pro and XD cards.

That's cool, I also have a SanDisk multi card reader (3 different card types) and they are great for moving info from PC to cards and back again.

I have been using SanDisk thumbdrives exclusively since 2005 and all of them have been very reliable. The one I am the happiest with is the 4GB Cruzer Micro Drive, which has a retractable connector. It was on sale at Staples for $50 just last month and it might be on sale again pretty soon.

Thumbdrives are getting really cheap, and there is no reason to buy anything smaller than 4GB.

Another vote for Sandisk - I have been using a 512 MB one for the last 3 years with no issues at all. I bought a new one (2 GB) with a retractable USB end and my brother loves it - no more caps to lose!

My USB flash drive is one I picked up at the checkout counter at Microcenter for $16. That was about 6 months ago. They have 2 GB ones for that price now and 1 GB ones for $10.

I have the SanDisk Cruzer Titanium (2GB) and I love it. I keep backups of my entire life on there, except my financial info. The only thing I do not like about it was the fact that it came preloaded with the U3 software. It SUCKS!! Instead I use the app package from Portable Apps http://portableapps.com/

Me too. Another happy Sandisk Cruzer Mini user (2x 256MB) for several years without any problems.

Sandisk Cruzer Micro here... I carry a 2GB unit on me at all times. I much prefer the retractable USB plug rather than the cap on the Mini, which always seems to get lost.

Mine's also survived a few trips through the washer with no issues.

My father and I rely on SanDisk Cruzers as well. A 1GB for myself, and a 2GB for him. They don't feel too perfect, but they work great.

Totally agree about U3 being worthless. You can go to SanDisks website and uninstall the U3 software. Once it's uninstalled you can use them with no trouble in vista and format them to NTFS.
