recommendations on a usb powered hub?

#1 Post by alfio » Thu Apr 05, 2007 10:11 pm

i'm looking for a powered USB powered hub with at least 5 ports. i'm willing to spend a little cash for something that won't crap out after a week (like my current airnet POS). reviews on newegg seem to be all over the place. i'd appreciate recommendations.

TIA

I have no personal experience with hubs, but I have always found this website very informative and helpful:

Try running an external 2.5" USB hard disk off it.
If it handles that without hiccups, you've got a winner.
In general though I would avoid Rosewill products like the devil avoids Holy Water!

I recommend getting a hub that uses an external power adapter. I almost always run into power problems with 4 or more devices on an unpowered hub.
