Bill, thanks for this very interesting video! Lots of fascinating facts and predictions, though the most surprising figure cited is that only 49 million laptops were shipped worldwide last year. I had expected a lot more.

LOL! You know, I bet many of the predictions will turn out to be way off, because many trends will saturate at some point.

We have just seen many reasons why government interventionalism will never disappear

It's very fascinating and most information seems quite true but I won't speculate on this as most of it is just "persumed", "predicted", "estimated" and "believed".
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Certainly fascinating, but it fails to take into account one thing.

The human race is self destructive by nature and will probably wipe itself out before all of those predictions can come true.

And I don't understand all this hype about the "$100 laptop project". There are tons of $100 laptops out there already. Of course they are all used and over 5 years old, but they still work well.

That video was very thought provoking to say the least. I rather enjoyed it. There is part of me that demands sources for these claims, but as far as the technical predictions go:

It will happen even faster than predicted

We are so close to a whole new plateau in terms of computing. By going massively multi-core (think 1,000 cores per chip) we will in essence be creating a form of neural net. Just as each cell processes 1 instruction, so does each core. Really freaking fast.

Almost scary, but part of me cannot help but almost jump with eager anticipation just thinking about the possibilities. My wife has often said that I love technology almost more than her. While this might be true, I do love it enough to know that soon it will become an extension of ourselves. It may not be borg-like, but will pervade every moment of our existance.
