Hi, everybody, it's my first post.
I found something like this:
http://www.caveo.com/products/anti-theft.htm
and i wonder is it possible to use integrated hardware component which is a motion detector, or accelerometer, embedded in the motherboard which continually senses system orientation and movement the same one which is part of ACTIVE PROTECTION SYSTEM in ours laptops. Is it possible to write an aplication like this in caveo link, for safety use???
Best Regards.
Security idea for programers...
Welcome to the forum. I'm having a little trouble following your post, but I think you're asking if the HDAPS can be used a security measure (correct me if I'm wrong).
I know people have have hacked HDAPS in order to switch desktops in XGL and Compiz. Basically, if you have a 3D desktop and you tap the side of the screen the cube will rotate to a new desktop. Google "smack book" or look for it on youtube and you'll see what I mean. Along with this, I have seen a guide that shows how to use HDAPS to unlock your screen. I think the guy programmed his thinkpad to "listen" for "Shave and a Haircut" to unlock the screen.
So, that is a very mild form a security (nowhere near the same as the Caveo card), but you would have to be running Linux and you may need some experience with modifying the kernel and working with python. I like the sound alarm that Caveo provides, and you may be able to hack that in a similar manner, but I wouldn't know how to.
