how do i downgrade the firmware hitachi 7k60?!?

#1 Post by dorin » Sun May 13, 2007 4:16 pm

edit: i found a firmware from 2004, but when i try to flash it, it says no new firmware, operation not needed...how can i put an older firmware?!
thanks

hi there,

i have a hts726060m9at00 (7200 60gb) which i want to install it into the "desktop" acer, but i cannot. when i try i get a black screen with a wiered "message" kinda like $|$|
the only thing i think of is to rewrite the flash to original (when i bought it i updated it, ibm/lenovo said so)
maybe this is similar to that hdd eror when none ibm hdds are used in thinkpad.
that solution was made for thinkpad, what about other brands?!

thanks,

dorin

How do you connect it?
As an external USB drive? Should be no problem.
Internal using a 2.5"-to-3.5" adapter? You may need to set the Master/Slave jumper when connecting to IDE.

when i have it in the ultrabay, i can access it, read/write with no pb, so i guess the password option can be ruled out.

logically should be sg regarding firmware as long as it doesn;t even let it boot from, it sees the hd but that's it...

Can you be more specific about this 'acer'?
HOW do you connect that HD to it, using what cables/hardware/whatever?
Is that 'acer' a laptop or a desktop PC?
If a PC, why would you want to put a puny 2.5" HD in a desktop as a main HD?
If English is too complicated for you, write it in German, I can answer you in that language as well.

I just want to upgrade the hdd of a laptop acer aspire 3690, by simply replacing the current hdd, the only one available in this acer with this problematic 7200.
when 7200 is in it it doesnt even boot, just shows me something like $|$|

any ideas?

thanks alot,

dorin
