hi guys,
does any of you tried to put a 7200hdd into the ultrabay adapter from x40?! did it boot with it inside? if not, and you can do it, can you PLEASE do it?!
i have an 7200 hdd but i cannot boot with it nor in windows, it kills the fan everytime the 7200 is in. and before buying another one (this is an old hdd) i want to know if 7200 in ultrabay and x40's are compatible.
i called ibm and first time they've told me its not supported according to a particular document, then i realised they've missed a star mentioning which totally changed the problem, today i called them and the guy had no idea, he told me first that it is not possible to boot from ultrabay hdd adapter, than that i can use only 4200hdd and when i told him boot for almost 3 months from a 5400hdd in ultrabay he said he'll call me back. never did...
thanks alot,
dorin

X40 (2386H6G) 1.4Ghz 1.5Gb 40Gb
FWIW, an X60s boots from a SATA Ultrabay adapter with a Hitachi 7k100 drive in an X6 Ultrabase and a blank primary HD bay.
Of course there are no problems booting from Ultrabay using normal Ultrabays (T60p, R52, T42).
