Thanks Pete, I think they're both good, I really enjoyed the second one, what an editing feat also!

Are they playing along and dubbing their guitar into it?
Or playing along with the music without being plugged in?
Either way, and I haven't picked up a guitar in about 10 years (still have it too), but it looks like he does know how to play the tune. I only saw one minor mistake that he made... but eh.

I've seen these videos a few times a while back, they are playing along with the background music, that first kid had another video of himself playing this same tune, this second one for some reason you can tell he edited it.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=QjA5faZF1A8& ... ed&search=
This is actually the first one that really started all of this, this kid here was approached by some one the news orgs doing a show about youtube and he refused to be on it, i thought that was pretty cool, just playing music for the sake of music is what it's all about.
Pattye, yuor're right the editing of the second one is amazinly seemless, he's probably not using audacity
Gomjabbar, that's no strat
sorry.

I have tried to see what the signature is on the headstock, but can't, that guitar is more on the lines of an Ibanez style electric or many, many manufacturers that make that style these days, most of those have up to 24 frets and the real tell tale sign is the shape of the headstock itself, I have owned Hamers and Ibanez' that look similar to that. Fortunately the Fender Strat gurus like myself would scream bloody murder if they deviated from the design to much as it is such a classic, much like some scream bloody murder when the thinkpads get redesigned.........

my latest strat that has been with me for many years, many gigs is in the videos, it's a japanese made tiger maple, very high quality very beautiful, the only non-stock parts are the Stevie Ray Vaughn pickups I put in for some extra bite.

Alright Mike you made me subscribe to your youtube page. That electric bach is awesome. Now do the whole toccata en fugue.
I also subscribed because as a fellow Mike we have to band together to protect our good names!
I am sooo buying a guitar soon. I kick [censored] on the clarinet, bass sax and piccolo. However years of smoking has caught up with me and I can't play much more than the Airwolf theme song now.
Thinking more about it now, my brother in law is in a band (one of many over the years) I should borrow an acoustic guitar from him and learn the basic chords and finger placements before I go and drop a couple hundred.
Hmmm.....

It's definitely (99.99% sure) a Jackson. But definitely no Strat, nor a cheap knockoff.Kyocera wrote:I have tried to see what the signature is on the headstock, but can't, that guitar is more on the lines of an Ibanez style electric or many, many manufacturers that make that style these days, most of those have up to 24 frets and the real tell tale sign is the shape of the headstock itself, I have owned Hamers and Ibanez' that look similar to that. Mike, thanks for subscribing, mostly thanks for the kind words. These days they have decent quality electrics at very low prices, and there are always pawn shops, I bought that black fender squire in a pawn shop for $150 bucks, some harley guy had stuck HD stickers and GLUED a wooden Harley Davidsion Wing emblem on the front, it took me a while to get it back to it's original state but it has been my backup guitar at many gigs for years as well. If you do get the acoustic do yourself a favor (mostly your fingertips) a big favor and get some light guage strings to start with so the practice time can be longer, or if you get that acoustic put some lighter gauge strings, just until you build up some callouses.temetka wrote:Alright Mike you made me subscribe to your youtube page. Mike you have got to hear this guy wail on the Hammond Organ, Gene Ludwig is awesome, I have a couple of his CD's, I got hooked
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=organgrinder69 in the second CD I have there is a lot of sax going on. I'm hoping that Purcy will post a couple of tunes off the latest CD...hint....hint.
Kristian, right on man!! Jackson is definately in that style too, I was about to pull my hair out trying to read the signature on the headstock, but figured it could be a special made signature guitar for that kid, definately looks like a 24 fret model so he can get more notes.

I am a drummer, but no one cares.
I can play a Beastie Boys song on guitar!
Back in the day (I was 15) my band opened for Dropkick Murphy's in Boston at the Middle East (maybe it was the Rat, Ramones played there). The funny thing is our singer was 13 at the time.

Mike, thanks, you are sweet. I am very lucky to live with such a soulful man, and I get free concerts everyday when he practices! Can't post tunes from the new CD, it's not out yet (and the label would hang me)

@ Pete, I don't know why people are so cruel with drummers, they are absolutely the backbone of any band. Congrats on your one year anniversaryTurbo Audi wrote:I am a drummer, but no one cares.

Haha I am not sure!! Its true though. A guy that works for my father plays drums and no one in the office considers him a real musician. Many of them are Berkley people.Purcy wrote:Mike, thanks, you are sweet. I am very lucky to live with such a soulful man, and I get free concerts everyday when he practices! Quite frankly, a lot people are just ignorant when it comes to the logistics of creating music. Being a drummer (and also an organist) requires using all 4 limbs at the same time and requires the utmost co-ordination. No other musician can claim that. You keep it up Pete!Turbo Audi wrote:

Pete, for some reason guitarists get more attention than bass and drummers, but from experience a good drummer and/or bass player can make a band, it takes way more coordination than I got.
Now I'm going off in a different direction but, I also was into and still love extrememly heavy metal, like Metallica (lars) and Slayer, Metal Church, Queensryche, STP etc. the drummers are amazing especially the ones that play dual bass drums, now that is quite a feat! Pardon the pun
