Read Bernoulli and HP Optical drive

#1 Post by chaukap » Mon Aug 06, 2007 7:46 pm

Hi all,

I have a 2.3 GB HP optical disk and a 230MB Iomega Bernoulli disk from which I need to read data.
The data is very important and I need to use it in my thesis.

We have the drives to read both the disk at our institute but for some reason they dont work. The oldest PC we can hook them up has Windows 2000. It turns out the backups were made in mid 90s and the drivers are not available for Windows 2000.

Does any one have a working system which still reads this kind of disks ?
Also, I live in Chicago, so does any one know any professional services which read such data ? I don't mind going driving anywhere in the midwest and pay money if needed.

Thanks,
- Kapil

Most legacy software that I run across will function on a Windows 98 machine, or in really trying cases, on a Windows 95 machine. Check around with people and acquaintances you know for a Windows 98 CD, set up a spare machine, and try it. ... JDH

You could even run 98 on a VM on your Z61 using a product like VMWare.
