Is there a hard case for thinkpads to carry in backpacks ?

Thinkpads suffer from the famous LCD touching the trackpoint from (so much for build quality).
Is there some sort of thin hard case to put the laptop in that can be carried in backpacks ?

There really is very little that can be done about screen flex at that level -- unless you were to build in an LCD roll cage. Oh, wait, that's exactly what the T61 has. :)

You can get rigid sleeves from multiple suppliers, including http://booqbags.com/.

Or perhaps beef up the lid casing. My Dell 17" (for which flex should be a major issue), has no give at all. I can produce any flex using just one hand (with lid opened) 8)

Always good to check out their closeout page:

They Vyper sleeves (which provide some rigidity) are on sale for $9.99 and up ...

Yes ... but how much does it weigh? As Colin Chapman once said, "Anyone can build a bridge that will stand up, but it takes an engineer to build one that will just stand up."

I actually found that not too long after I posted, and dug up a discount code as well! I thought I'd wait until confirmation, and your bump prompted me to check. Yep, it is. :)

I went for the 17" @ $4.99 and it came out to $14.45. Gonna be a little roomy for my T61 I think, but I couldn't resist that price. I'll just start carrying my teddy bear with me again. I was looking for an excuse, anyhow. ;)

Supposedly Chapman paraphrased an old engineering phrase ... but it was very apropos for him, as he definitely designed the Lotus race cars to be on the edge -- they might fall apart a lap after the finish.

Ah [censored], they canceled my order. They tried to sell me the Vyper 2, but, like most of their products, that's a little out of my price range. :(

Looks worth the price though. Oh, and since people asked, the coupon code is pbzone07. (10% off)
