I just have to get my frustration out!!!!1
I have a z61m thinkpad, 2gb ram, 1.66ghz core2duo & 80gb 5400hd.
My system is always loading off my harddisk! What ever i do it always runs!!!
Anyone in the same hell as me?

spyware, viruses, etc? did you check for those yet?
If you use a third party software for backing up and restore (and always test!) then turn off the system restore. (in acccessories).
Initially your hard disk may be a bit slow until XP has put everything in the right location. (it does this through keeping a tab on the performance).
But I find the hdd very fast, however you do need to tune the machine a bit.
On another note: If you are running XP then do NOT upgrade to the latest Intel Matrix driver, it is about 6 - 8 times slower on my Z61m. (the latest gives compatibility with Vista but it goes at great expense of performance in XP . . . some hidden agenda perhaps here to make Vista look better? Don't know but one thing is sure I reverted in a hurry) By the way I am running a hierachical database and my bottleneck was the 2Mb L2 cache so I upgrade to a T7200 (now 4Mb L2 cache). I am doing about 1 Billion database reads / hour (that is with a B not an M !!!!! ).
