Norton AntiVirus

#1 Post by ThinkPad » Sat Oct 06, 2007 9:29 pm

I have a long expired version of Norton Antivirus that was preloaded when I got the laptop. I did get the basic renewal package which has also expired.
So now comes the decision on whether to renew or upgrade. I have three options

A- Basic Renewal for my 2004- $35
B- Renewal with upgrade to 2008 Norton Antivirus- $40
C- Renewal with upgrade to 2008 Norton Internet Security- $50

I was thinking of getting the Internet Security, but is it really worth the $50? I was also reading online that the Internet Security can also interfere with other online applications such as Outlook and Firefox such as not allowing connections etc.

So bottom line is: which one is worth getting?

MOD EDIT: Off topic.

If you gonna upgrade OS to Vista, go for NIS 2008. 10 bucks for better firewall and online protection.

I would still go with the integrated security (firewall) even if staying with XP. It is a laptop, and you never know where you might take it and need the firewall. ... JDH

In my opinion none of them are worth getting. I think there are better anti-virus programs, and better firewalls.

I personally dislike Norton. It is very heavy on system resources, and it installs a lot of junk on your system.

The best anti-virus I've tried is NOD32.
