carat is abbreviated "ct." iirc :)

I read kt as carat, but owning a 24 kiloton nuclear-powered ThinkPad would be too awesome for words, and would probably allow you to get many great discounts from Lenovo.

ct. is a measure of WEIGHT (Diamonds, etc)

kt. is a measure of "Content/purity" :

24kt= "100%" gold
18kt = ~75% gold

FWIW: 18kt and 24kt gold tend to be NICE but they are too soft (soft metal) in pure form -once you turn it into a "brick" it is a different story-..LOL

The gold surface will be scratched like crazy. You need to wear leather gloves to handles one of those babies.
