Alternative use for smaller T23 RAM sticks.

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Sat Dec 01, 2007 10:27 am

From one of the T23s I have bought, I had a PC133 128MB stick left over, which nobody wants anyway.

I just bought a new Brother HL-5240 Laser printer which comes standard with only 16MB memory, but has 1 memory slot for 64/128/256 or 512MB extra.
As it happens, the T23 memory stick fits and works perfectly in this printer (and also in the HL-5250DN amongst others), so I now have a more than adequate 144MB RAM in it.

Nice one, but what I would like to know is; How the heck did you come to the idea of giving it a go in the first place?

The printer manual tells you that it needs 144-pin PC133 x64 memory.
I am still organizing my new house, and while unpacking my laptop parts, I came across this T23 stick.
I checked with various printer-memory suppliers what specs they offer, and the T23 stick fits the bill exactly.
Tried it, and Bingo! :D

When my Guinness runs out, I'll change to Murphy's. If THAT runs out too, there's not going to be much of a Christmas for many of you!
I'll need all the electricity I can get my hands on to keep my workshop running! I have these monster T23 and T30 power supplies, which just EAT KiloWatts. Prepare for some brownouts over Xmas if you are in my area! 8)

Hate to tell you, but you may want to start stocking up on T series batteries, because blackouts/brownouts/grayouts are quite common in this area...I'm not that far away from you at all...

On another note, there's always malt in my house, and Guinness more often than not so...when you blow up your one-horse-town feel free to drop by... and we can blow up mine together....

[answers in best Godfather's voice] You made me an offer I can not refuse! [/voice]

Hey George, I might take you up on that offer one of these days.
My wife is running a stand in the Blakeslee flea market until Xmas.
I might go up there myself one of these weekends. To your neck-of-the-woods it is not too far from there.
Would be nice to meet a fellow TP enthusiast. I'll PM you if and when.
