Logitech mouse, will the 3y warranty be valid outside U.S

#1 Post by ibmfreak » Sat Dec 08, 2007 9:20 am

Hello

I am thinking to buy a logitech revolution mouse from U.S ebay. My concern is the 3 years warranty. Who knows will the warranty be valid in Europe?

Thanks

I have one of those (bought in Ireland).

From the documentation:
5. Limited Product Warranty. Logitech warrants to you that the Software will substantially conform to its published documentation and the media containing the Software shall be free from defects in material, each for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of purchase. Logitech's limited warranty is nontransferable and is limited to the original purchaser. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary under local laws.

Don't see any 3 years warranty, nor anything about the hardware.
Because of notoriously crappy software, I never install the Logitech stuff, but their mice (and this one especially) are very good.

RealBlackStuff, I'm running the latest logitech setpoint software on Vista and it is really nice. If you run vista and you have an MX Revolution give it a shot. The side wheel does aero flipscreen, and the highlight/search button works great. Highlight any text anywhere, hit a button, google (or your choice of search engine) pops up and goes to town. IMHO, well worth the install.

I have the CD with Setpoint 3.1, but as I mentioned above, I don't like their software, too many problems in the past.
So, on the same assumption, I did not bother to install it.
FYI, I'm running XP-Pro, no interest in Vista whatsoever.

"Logitech's limited warranty is nontransferable and is limited to the original purchaser"

As the mouse is Factory Sealed Retail Box so I believe this means that I am original purchaser?

I suggest you contact logitech with this very question. You might require a proof of puchase in order to receive warranty services and other claims and IMO Paypal receipt would do no justice, you could require an original receipt from the reseller.

It depends on whether the seller is an authorised Logitech reseller or not.

If they aren't, you are not the original purchaser, even if the box is sealed.

Some of the ebay's mouse revolution sellers state that warranty is inside the box.

Like this:

Package Contents

* Logitech® VX Revolution™ Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks
* 2.4 GHz micro-receiver
* Logitech® SetPoint™ software CD
* User's guide
* AA Battery
* 3-year limited warranty

It might be that the first who registers the warranty some how is the original purchaser.

Warranty is important I doubt that the mouse will last 3 years...

There may well have been a warranty card inside my mouse package, but as I bought it about 3 months before my move from Ireland to the US, it most likely got lost.
Besides, mice are expendable items.
My oldest Logitech MouseMan+ must be about 10 years old, and is still going strong.
The MX700 I had before, died after about 2 years. My current rodent is about 6 months old, and alive and kicking.
