Nice shuttle 'server' using mobile technology

#1 Post by jjames55 » Mon Jan 07, 2008 5:22 pm

Hello all,

Has anyone else tried the shuttle XPC-SD11G5 - absolutely a little masterpiece!

I stumbled over it looking for a server a bit more echonomical than my last (may it rest in peace). A machine using 150W 24/7 took up a quarter of our electrical bill, one year savings will pay for the shuttle.

I have heard about terrible noisy shuttles but this is not one.

The shuttle uses a pentium-m cpu, and an intel mobile chipset, so its fully compatible with notebook hardware control for examble. Mine sports a 2.13 GHZ P-M CPU and 2GB ram. Add a 160GB 2.5" SATA disk, and you'll have an absolute screamer of a machine, almost completely silent and using under 30W when idling.

Unfortunately shuttle has not taken this machine to the next level as roumored by making a XPC model using the newer 'core' mobile chips, but nontheless it a very nice machine in the laptop spirit.

regards,
Jesper James
