Recommend Jump Drive

#1 Post by fkelly » Fri Feb 01, 2008 11:00 pm

Looking to pick up a jump drive.....Between 4 - 8 gig.

Interested to know what brand names you all are happy with.

I want fast and sturdy (throwing it in my bag).

I have tried several.

The one I like the most and am currently using is the Sandisk Contour. I have a 4gb. I have seen them in 8gb capacities. Reading at 25X and writing at 18X. One of the fastest out there. In contrast most others appear to be half the speed.

Slightly larger than some. Comes with a pleather case and also has a unique USB door that opens when you slide the cover. This seems somewhat fragile and maybe the only detraction from this otherwise excellent product.

You may pay more for this but the speed is worth it in my opinion.

I'd recommend the ones I have, Sandisk Cruzer Micro. I have the 2GB and 4GB versions, and both are great. The retractable USB plug is nice, too.

My 2GB one is apparently waterproof, it's gone through the washer twice and it still works.

One more vote for sandisk contour, it is indeed a fast drive (a lil' bit expensive than the others, but totally worth it).

I'm pretty partial to the Sandisk Cruzer Micro series. I've owned two 1GB drives and currently own a 2GB drive. Pretty fast, no reliability issues. I recently bought a 4GB Cruzer Titanium, haven't received it yet but from a couple videos I've seen online you can run it over several times and it barely looks like anything happened to it.

Another vote for the Sandisk Cruzer Micro. I have the 4GB version.

:D Cruzer Micro all the way!

Though Office Depot sent out coupons for 40% of a 2GB or higher starting the 10th. They are for the Office Depot Ativa brand...

Everytime I hear Ativa I think Aptiva...

Well, at first pass it seems like I can narrow down the brand to Sandisk.

Couple feel goods about the contour and micro and that titanium sounds tough.....Well off to the store to at least get a hands on..

(((You sure Sandisk didn't have 5 of their sales reps to jump on and answer this question))) hahahaha!

Holy smokes you guys quickly narrowed my field to a managable level.
