France forces EU to waste 200 Million Euro per year!

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Wed Feb 13, 2008 11:20 am

This post should concern ALL European citizens!

As most Europeans may know, the European Parliament has a habit of relocating once every month from Brussels/Belgium to Strasbourg/France, for only a few days.
The complete staff, as well as the full office inventories (furniture, computers, etc.) has to move!
Why?
It is only and solely the demand of France. This madness costs all other participating countries 99% of the total bill (200 million Euro per annum).

Recently a certain number of parliament members of different parties and different countries, has started an action to stop this waste of money.
For this, they need several million signatures to be able to bring this onto the agenda of the European Commission.

Within the first few days they already received 25,000 signatures, but they need several million of those!
Currently the counter indicates over 1.2 million signatures, and it keeps increasing steadily.

Please support them to reach the second million (and more).
To assist with this, go to: http://www.oneseat.eu
and sign the petition to stop this money squandering!
(NOTE: ONLY Europeans can sign this!)

You may copy the above and pass it on via email to all your European friends.

I don't know, but I guess signers from non-EU countries might be rejected. As in most voting systems, there are always some invalid votes.
I also think that the members of this forum are mature enough, to only sign if they are entitled to it.

RBS has opened a can of worms
I don't know anybody who says this move that they make is productive. The original reason was that the French insisted, when germany and france created the EU, that part of the EU "government" should be run from France. France has used it's veto to stop people stopping this waste of money and recources.

The EU wants to be a little "greener" - WTF how many trucks do they use to move every time?

As an aside to how things are working here in the EU. I came to Germany in 1992, 3 years after "The Wall" came down. It was after the "fall" they required that every person in west germany paid a reunification tax to pay for the integration and re-development of east germany into the west. (Wages and living standards were alot lower in the east). The reunification tax was planned to run for 5 years so that they would have enough money to pay for improving the east.

I still have to pay the reunification tax today, 14 years after it should have stopped.

The poll says "as a citizen of the European Union", and asks for a "country" (not "country of residence"). I am guessing that you would specify the country through which you have a EU citizenship.

As with most casual polls and petitions, the validity of your input is virtually unenforceable. I understand this isn't intended to be a formal poll, rather, a petition for publicity purposes. "We think the seat should be in Brussels only" is a lot less impressive than "10 million EU citizens think the seat should be in Brussels only". If 100,000 of these signatures are not valid, that doesn't really challenge the operation. The final decision will lay with the politicians anyway.

There is no such thing as a sunset tax. The hunger of government for your money is too great.

Shut up, you may just have given them one more opportunity to get at your hard-earned cash!

EDIT:
I wanted to say: don't mention any more items, that the government could (ab)use for yet another tax levy.

You are one lucky guy, along with the rest of the citizens over there. Income taxes here in the U.S. were supposed to be a temporary measure to help the government finance the World War I...

The last time I checked, that one ended in 1918, which would make these taxes overextended for some 90 years this year...

Some of us will be getting one rather soon; alas, including many who have never paid any income tax in their life.
