Total lunar eclipse - Feb 20th 2008
Here on the West Coast, the moon is just clearing some of the buildings around me and about 1/3 of the lower left face of the moon is already gone. Totality starts at about 7:00pm PST and is supposed to last about 51 minutes. Enjoy the show!

I had hoped to get my camera mounted to my telescope but I'm still at work so I guess that's something I'll have to do in 2010 when the next one rolls around these parts

It was a beautiful site.
I took one picture with my camera on night mode, which left the shutter open...The moon ended up looking like a worm, since I didn't have the camera on a tripod. I'll post it later if anyone is interested in my crappy picture!

Thanks!nshore wrote:Nice pictures. I attempted to take a few through my telescope using my digital camera, handheld. Some ok, most blurry.
COLD, here, though for extended viewing!
I used a tripod for all the pictures, handheld were coming out to be blurry for the same reasons.
The fully eclipsed moon was the hardest to come out clear. I still couldn't do it. O well, I have two years to research that now
We also had windchill in the teens F here in New Hampshire last night. I had to keep running in and out.
Rockport, MA? Does this look familiar?

Great pics Syed!
I was waiting for it yesterday night in the UF observatory, but it got cloudy ~30 mins before the event and we never got to see it

Thanks Sri! This is the first time in last 2 or 3 eclipses that the New England didn't have torrential rains or the eclipse too close to the morning. Sorry you couldn't see it this time. Observatory would have been the ideal place for anything like this.gator wrote:Great pics Syed!

We were there in December last year. Of course, about 95% of the town was shut down for the season (a good reason) but there were still some tourists around braving the bitter cold sea wind. I couldn't figure out why everyone was packed up like that until I left the car and walked around for a few minutes.nshore wrote:Ah, Motif #1. Yep, just down the street about 3 blocks..........
