Check it out. It might give Lenovo a run for its money.

And if it has the trackpoint - that's a deal breaker for me.
That and if it says "Dell" on it. A big deal breaker.
I bet this is going to have a ULV processor with only 6h battery (with the media slice)... and will start at $1500 with a 4200RPM 1.8" drive
or it'll just run VERY hot (somehow... if there's a way to do it, Dell will do it)
I'm done my rant now.
*waiting for the X70 with LED-backlit WXGA+, 12h battery, LV processor, SSD option, and the first discrete graphics option on an X series laptop... I can dream*

This is a Latitude, not Inspiron. Its quality will be at least pretty good, if not very good.qviri wrote:Awaiting word on pricing and more details on quality

LoL. That's exactly how I feel. I think the black palmrest design on Thinkpads is definitely one of the best features of all.t20user wrote:I have seen some nice looking NEW Dell machines before. It depends on the color of the laptop. My coworker just commented last week that my 7-year-old Inspiron 5000e looked newer than his T60 Thinkpad. This particular Inspiron is black, so it ages better than the silver ones, e.g. I had a silver Inspiron 6000 whose palmrest turned dark after just two years.t20user wrote:I have seen some nice looking NEW Dell machines before. All Dells (or HPs, Toshibas, Fujitsus, etc.) aren't the same. We should never generalize.

Let's hope they work on the hinges, at least.pianowizard wrote:This is a Latitude, not Inspiron. Its quality will be at least pretty good, if not very good.qviri wrote:Awaiting word on pricing and more details on quality
To other comments: it does have a trackpoint, though on Latitude D the trackpoint isn't as good as Thinkpad's; I rather like the design, Dell logo included.
X220/IPS, T60p/IPS
