#1 Post by SaberX » Mon Mar 24, 2008 11:32 am

Just seen this and thought i would post it.

Was the fastest 7200rpm sata drive be 160gig?
And the fastest 7200rpm drive in IDE would be 100gig?

Fujitsu 320gig 7200rpm drive info

So whats the bigest 9.5mm SATA drives out there 5400 and 7200rpm?
Same goes for IDE?

Update: looking at the info on the above link , they have a samsung 500gig sata 5400rpm 9.5mm drive....

Wasn't there a 200 gig 7200? 320 is still much bigger either way though.

IDE seems like it will continue to be stuck at 100gb/7200 and 250gb/5400.

well i'm glad i got a SATA enabled laptop then :) I don't need 500GB but the density per platter and all that should definitely help speeds. Power drain isn't all that great but i'll check some numbers. This one says 2.3W when writting/reading so that's pretty good compared to the one i probably have now also.

Not gonna pay an arm and a leg for it tho when i don't even need the storage :) Maybe SSD would be better :)
