The return of the $399 Z61t deal from lenovo outlet!

#1 Post by Entei » Wed Apr 02, 2008 9:58 pm

I've been "lurking" around the forums for well over a year now and I think it's time I say hello.

And I come bearing great news, the $399 Z61t (9440-A4U) is back but I'm sure it won't last for long.

Time to give the old credit card a work out :)

My wife is now using the one I grabbed during the first round sale from Lenovo. I upped the RAM to 1GB, sold the 7 cell battery, bought a 4 cell battery and upgraded the CPU to a T2300 Core Duo 1.66GHz and I'm still only at $450, all in.

So far my wife wouldn't give it back for any of these -> T43 w/ 14" SXGA+, R60, Z61m or Z61m titanium.

One note, since this model does not have the security chip, it can not be upgraded with the fingerprint reader. I tried it, no go.

Thank goodness this particular model (9440-A4U) only has 1280x800. Had it been a 1440x900 model, I would be sooooo disappointed.

I would have been tempted to get this, except I have no $ right now :?

The Z series was always maligned, but I always did like the Z6xt, especially with the titanium lid. The one improvement I would have liked to see was a brighter display.
