Which brenthaven bag for 14" regular thinkpad?
Which brenthaven bag for 14" regular thinkpad?
I had a chance to look at a brenthaven bag this week and I liked it very much. The bag had an extra compartment (in addition to the laptop compartment itself) which had a divider for organizing files. The bag fitted a 14" regular dell latitude almost perfectly with very little room on the sides ...
I was looking at brenthaven's website to buy a similar bag for myself but I have a hard time locating the eaxct model. I don't know if the bag I saw was a prolite I case or a triload ... can someone who knows about these bag help me identify ?

I have an old topload which is similar to the triload. If you need a big bag it is a nice one. It is really durable, I have been hauling it around daily for over 3 years now and you can't tell. It seems to be self cleaning, meaning the dirt just falls off of it.
I have it loaded to about 27 pounds and the strap, swivels and connections to the bag show no signs of stress at all. It us well built.
You might be able to tell how impressed I am with that bag.
I had a Targus bag before the Brenthaven, It lasted about 1 year before one of the strap swivels tore off of the bag.

Thanks Tim ... I really love the brenthaven bag too. I have been looking for a good bag for 2+ years now (ever since I got my T60) ... I have tried the thinkpad leather bag (too heavy/expensive/uncomfortable and subsequently sold), thinkpad nylon bag (good, but too loose for 14" thinkpads and not enough room to carry stuff), thinkpad backpack (good, but I dont like backpacks anymore). I don't like crumpler/timbuk2 etc which are the college staples ...
The brenthaven I saw was a dream bag, it was really well built, roomy and a perfect fit for 14" (and maybe 15" regular) machines. It was 2+ years old as the owner mentioned but it looked new. It looked professioanl and extremely sturdy and importantly, looks like it is within my budget (if it is ~ $100) since I don't mind spending a little bit if the bag is going to be with me for years. The only confusion is in the model (owner does not know) - prolite I or triload
I think the case I want is brenthaven trilaod, since apple lists the prolite I for thier macbook air which is 13.3" ... but again, 13.3" widescreen laptops are almost the same size as regular 14" ones, so I am confused. Maybe I'll write to them and ask.

Try to find that owner again, take some measurements and photos, then contact the manufacturer.
Or borrow it and go to a shop where they sell those (if that exists).

The bad thing for my Brenthaven is that it is designed for a 14" standard laptop. I have a 14.1" widescreen R61 in it right now and it is a very tight fit. I have loosened it up as far as it will go but the fit is tight enough that it will wear the finish off of the sides of the LCD cover soon.
Since everything is going to widescreen it seems I am limited as to what will fit in the future.
