Question about Vaio
does it matter for recovery CDs whether you use the internal or external CD Drive. the problem is that my recovery CDs keeps on failing and i get blue screen with some error 00000007~(forgot the rest). what is the likely problem here:
1. Recovery CDs
2. Hard Drive
3. CD Drive
4. The User (me)

Re: Question about Vaio
okay so to be more specific here is the exact problem.
1. I insert Windows XP CD
2. I press power button
3. I get Vaio recovery screen (windows XP CD doesn't load automatically - what the heck?)
4. I get "Vaio Recovery"
5. I get "Please wait"
6. I get the following error: Blue screen
STOP: C0000145 [Aplication Error]
The application failed to initilize properly (0xc0000006)
Click OK to terminate the application.
Obviously I tried Vaio recovery with some old recovery CDs that I had. This didn't work. Now I just want to install Windows from the CD and yet everything is stop in recovery loop. Without windows XP CD I still get the same loop.
Please help me boot the computer from Windows XP CD....

i tried that. but there was a problem with it as well or maybe i just don't know how to use bios in Vaio (note: this is not my regular thinkpad but my friend's computer)Stan wrote:Have you tried setting your first boot device to CD in the bios?
That works in most cases.
i entered bios and the boot tab.
there was an option to boot from CD Drive but I couldn't select it. I kept on pressing enter to select it but it would not let me.... i don't know maybe it has to do something with the broken CD Drive. I have an external DVD Drive that I used but I could not see it in bios.
