Sorry, maybe I mean 320GB. Look for Hitachi 5K320.

It's a 5400 rpm drive. If it were a 7200 it would be a 7k320.

The info on the Hitachi site is here:

There's a lot more if you just use the Search function at http://www.hitachigst.com.

Here is an article from storagereview.com about the new travelstar 5k320 drives.
http://www.storagereview.com/latest_hitachi_320_gb
It's been quite a while since they've been announced but I'm surprised to see such little circulation (not sure about the actual circulation, just what I feel. $0.02)
I'm interested about them as a second drive, but I haven't seen any reviews or specific specs about them around yet.
I have noticed a few places that currently stock them, like pc-connection or tech-depot (they pop-up on google if you search for 5k320) but I haven't seen them on big sites like newegg yet.
Hope that helps.

FWIW, I'm perfectly happy with the Samsung 320GB drive in my T60.

Tell me more. Is it 7200 RPM?

I'm running out of space for audio samples.

The Samsung 320GB drive I have is 5400RPM.

It's the HM320JI purchased here.

If you get the bay adapter, you can put two in your T6x.

According to this article SATA 3Gb/s is 100% backward compatible with 1.5 Gb/s SATA. However, the Wikipedia article on Serial ATA indicates that some (apparently older) chipsets do not support SATA 3Gb/s drives. There is in fact a jumper setting on Seagate drives to make them compatible with 1.5 Gb/s SATA. A Hitachi document "Hitachi 7K320 Compatibility.pdf" indicates the drive is compatible with T6x's. My question is, can anyone confirm the 7K320 is compatible with the T60p in the main HD bay and also, if it would be compatible working in the ultrabay? In either case is it necessary to change any jumpers?

In order to confirm this one would need a 7K320 and they don't appear to be available yet from the usual vendors.

I just picked up a Western Digital 320 gig 5400 rpm drive.
They are a fast drive...
In my Dell D820(see sig) i had a Samsung 100gig , 7200rpm SATA drive in it. The Windows Vista score gave it a 5.0 out of 5.9.Not the best benchmark i know.
But i put in the WD 320gig 5400RPM SATA drive and the Vista score went upto 5.5 out of 5.9.
Big jump for going from a 7200 to a 5400.
I was thinking it would stay the same. The 320gig is new and the 100gig is little over a year old.
