BidPay?

#1 Post by ulrich.von.lich » Sun May 18, 2008 8:11 am

Is it safe? Why do some sellers prefer BidPay to PayPal? Is there anything I should know before signing up?

If anyone has experience with it, would you please post it here? I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Tony

Bidpay closed shop on December 31, 2007. I used them and found no problems when they were in business. Some eBay sellers have not updated their web pages; hence, the reference for Bidpay.

You may want to look into moneybookers...many people, especially in Europe, prefer this service by far...

Thanks Rick and George for the help!

I've never heard of moneybookers but I will look into it. I see you are not a fan of PayPal either. After I sold my T60p and calculated what I paid for eBay/PayPal fees, I've been looking for some alternatives.

I haven't yet found anything in France that can replace eBay. Some French online marketplaces charge even higher transaction fees than eBay (10-15% for Priceminister for example) and they are definitely not as popular. French checks turn out to be the best alternative to PayPal so far but they took time.

If you search that word, there is a lot of listings on eBay with moneybookers accepted... are you sure it's not allowed?

I thought that this was true as well, but eBay's Accepted Payments page now says otherwise (under "Some Examples" heading):

eBay wrote:Payment Services permitted on eBay: Allpay.net, Bidpay, cash2india, CertaPay, Checkfree.com, hyperwallet.com, Moneybookers.com, Nochex.com, Ozpay.biz, Paymate.com.au, Propay.com, XOOM

They conveniently do not show that paragraph when you first look at that page.
