Doomsday?

#1 Post by dsigma6 » Thu May 22, 2008 5:19 pm

You old guys are nuts!

I won't see 50...the world will end right before my 30th (2012).

Cheers, LOL.

Doomsday? I would say that doomsday is here and now (not in US obviously), just not global, rather local. Just look Myanmar, Darfur and other crysis. My personal doomsday was when former Yugoslavia fell apart (because of the way it fell apart, not for Yugoslavia itself), but it's over now, thank you God/Buddha/Alah or who/what ever is up there..... I think doomsday will not be triggered by bug of any kind, rather war for resources and natural disasters (in terms of climate change not asteroids, that will impact worlds economy and agroculture). There are wars for oil and food now, water for few decades, that will inflame the world again.... I just hope I'm wrong..... Am I wrong, or is the end of the world when YOU die, not when earth fells apart?

EDIT: Ray, goodluck.

Ray, I can't believe you split this to a new thread lol! Let me go OT!!

I will probably be a bit edgy when that date comes around, but I'm not exactly loony. I do believe we're on the fast track to destruction, but every generation has probably felt that way for a while. WWII, nukes, it must've been unreal being alive and old enough to fathom what was happening.

I am also stocking up on CR2016 button cells. You never know when you'll have a Timex emergency in post-apocalyptic suburban America.

Hah! I'd rather go for those cool automatic watches that run by the movement of your wrist.

I always wanted one of those......

Oh yeah, this knife would be good for an end-of-the-world scenario anyday.

I saw few days ago this short film (cca 5 min & 20 mb), and remembered this discussion...

Doomsday for earth (or rather for life on earth as we know it), human factor excluded, few facts included...

This is for all of you (and me) who wondered how would it looked like...

Enjoy your life...

doomsday: dec 21, 2012 when the plane of the ecliptic of this solar system finally lines up with the plane of the ecliptic of the milky way galaxy for the very first time ever.. at the end of the 18000 year "night" cycle..

or so it has been said..

of course some would say that the world ended on nov. 4, 2008 but that remains to be seen.. :)

Doomsday: when the world implodes in embarassment after epic failure of Euro 2012.

Nope, I never did like the guy but I put up with him without constantly whining. I'm not particularly thrilled with Obama either but we will have to make do and I'm not going to whine about him either.
