X61 Tablet 7767....loving every moment of it
Didn't microsoft already demonstrate all these features on the surface platform earlier? This just seems like a port of those features to windows (esp for laptops), the only reason being to compete against the current edition OSX that has it already.
To me, all this hype about multitouch in iphone/macs seems more of a gimmick than something that is really usable, atleast as of now. And oh yeah, I have seen the use of these touch features in an iphone in person and I am not impressed ... it looks fancy the first 2 times, and after that it becomes boring.
An interesting story: my friend has a iphone, and he is obsessed about keeping the surface clean, so he wipes it all the time to remove fingerprints. The iphone has a 4-digit numberlock to keep it locked while not in use, and there was an easy way to "hack" into my friend's iphone that is cleaned almost everytime after use. I just grabbed it from him after he locked it and saw the fingerprints
There are not too many ways you can arrange a 4 digit number and if you are sitting across where you can watch the way the fingers move, it is very easy to get it right within a few tries. Ofcourse there are ways to prevent this (my immediate suggestion to him was to use one repeated digits in the pin) and other ways in s/w ... but I digress.
I do agree that a tablet PC has it own advantage and uses, but I'd never buy a device with only a touch input. Just for example, as a PDA my HP 100LXis far more usable than any other phone/PDA I have seen till date, and the big physical keyboard is a big part of the reason.
