Looking for a user / instruction manual for ?????

#1 Post by rkawakami » Sat Jun 21, 2008 3:22 am

I bought a used Nikon N65 (non-US model is the F65) camera for my daughter because she wants to take a photography class next school year. Since I needed a user manual for it, I searched around and found a Nikon Europe site (http://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com) which had the manual but the FTP site apparently was blocked by my company's firewall and/or wireless router. I continued searching and eventually ran across this site:

http://safemanuals.com/
http://safemanuals.com/index_faq.php (site FAQ)

It had an identical copy to what was on the "official" site (I grabbed the one from the custhelp.com site last night and compared the two). It also has many, many more manuals, including Thinkpad HMMs, install guides and service/troubleshooting guides. For the few that I checked, they are up-to-date versions. The site also allows registration (not needed if you are just downloading .PDFs) which then permits you to retain manuals in your own personal storage area.

Once you locate the manual you need, you are presented with a link to the .PDF file. Click it and you get a pop-up with a disclaimer and CAPTCHA test which to supposed to screens out bots. Type in the four letters to activate the "Download" button. One strange quirk is that the .PDF file is named with a sequence of random hex characters. Once you finish downloading the file you can rename it to whatever makes sense for you.

Try this website: http://www.butkus.org/chinon/nikon/niko ... 65_65d.htm

It looks like a two parter.

this is a great site, thanks. I just downloaded a manual for my camera and the Dyson vacuum, both bought used on ebay with no manuals. Eh, I know how to use them but it's nice having the manuals to look through in case I missed something  I like how they give you the link to the manual you are downloading, I guess if you are selling something on ebay and don't have the manual you can link to it on this site, for potential customers.
