Can I exclude directories when creating an image w/ Acronis?

#1 Post by tpham33 » Fri Jun 27, 2008 9:20 pm

I am using Acronis True Image 11 to build an image of my Thinkpad for disaster recovery. I want to exclude some directories from the backup to reduce the size of the image (I am also using High compression). Acronis doesn't let me do that, I can only exclude files by name or type.
Am I missing something? Genie Backup 8 allows you to do that. I would be shocked if that's not an option with Acronis.
Any ideas? Thanks.

According to this thread you can. Also, when I look at the TI 11 specs on the Acronis webpage, it does list exclusion as a feature. You may need to follow some special syntax, like C:\foo\* .

The thread listed doesn't seem too promising, as it's fairly new and it seems the problem may not yet be resolved. You may want to try poking around the Acronis/Wilders Security forum for more help.
