1.25 TB 2.5" HDD by 2010

Well, according to this, it seems that SSD will have problems to replace classic drives....

A computer with two of the 5TB drives is estimated to hold roughly as much information as a typical human brain and would permit computers to have a similar level of memory recall.
I just wonder how did they conclude that... Smells like marketing....

even then you still gotta remember not everyone needs 500GB on a laptop. I actually have 100GB and still have about 50GB free and i have lots of TV shows and music on here. Granted i have an external drive but that's the main point, with a 1TB network drive (or even those "cloud" storage places) you don't need to store 100s of GBs on data locally. I like to share my music and shows between devices so they are centrally stored.

I agree with you, no need to store all that locally, but applications/games and TVshows/movies (if HD encoded) are getting bigger and bigger...

I remember some years back when 80GB drives were introduced, and there were some people that claimed that there is no need for those (for personal use, of course)....
