convert a fax/phone/copier to printer?

#1 Post by ggrr » Wed Jul 09, 2008 1:22 pm

Hi,

I have a stupid question! Is there any way to use a fax/phone/copier (Sharp UXP20PK) as a printer?

Can I use a RJ-45 to connect it to the PC and then use some special software to print?

Thanks much

Welcome to thinkpads.com!

I can't seem to find any references to the model you've specified, but go here:

http://www.sharpusa.com/products/TypeLa ... 24,00.html

and see if there's one close to yours. Most likely, since it is called a "phone / fax / copier" and not an "all-in-one" (AIO), the printer function is not possible. You should also check the Manuals link on the page I've provided; that will enable you to download a copy of the manual and everything should be explained therein.

If it (the printer) is already a print server, then plug it into a router (not your PC) and plug your computer into the same router. Then run the setup program on your computer and at the appropriate time, point it to the network print server. ... JDH
