Hope this holiday season will see all well and sharing the time with friends and family in peace and camaraderie.

Best of wishes from the Maugham family, where frantic activities are afoot as our son is aloft as I write this, enroute to picking up the Grandmas in NY and PA, eldest daughter arrived last night via auto, younger daughter arrived via commercial air and now all of the females have descended on the local bridal shops in search of that one perfect gown.

2005 will bring us two weddings as our son and younger daughter both marry their respective betrotheds and we officially become empty nesters.

Two weddings in the same year, sigh........

We became empty nesters over a year ago. There is nothing wrong with young ones leaving the nest, and we enjoy our freedom - may you as well. Our daughters live in the same metrpolis as us - far enough away for comfort, but close enough to visit whenever. ... JD Hurst

I never before realised just how nice it is to have my two girls back home with me for Christmas, and after having popped over to Bordeaux to collect the eldest we're three again, albeit only for a few days until the next term starts.

The weather is mild (ish), there's good wine, and better company - enjoy!

Toronto is part of Canada now!?!?! [censored], and that's always been one of my favorite cities, especially "Toronto Underground" at Xmas. And the halftime show the hotel next to the new ballpark puts on is NOT to be missed!

BION I understand that it's even more difficult for a Commonwealth resident to emigrate to Bermuda now than it is for us here in the Colonies.

I've been hinting to Lloyd's for years to make me their resident surveyor on the island, said appointment being for 5 years, but to date they always manage to find some subject of HRM willing to make the sacrifice.

I think we all could do with some years of only average mishap....
just some small incidents, no wars
just accidents, no terror,
just a small quake or volcano erruption, not ...

I feel sick of all that happening in the past, just now, even more so since 2001, and I do indeed pray, that at least for some time mankind is allowed to rest, recover and think over.
