Who's Internet connection is slowest?

I'm away from my DSL connection. Right now I am barely connected at 33.6 Kbps

Anyone slower?

Matey, I feel for ya. I only recently got DSL here at home (like, three months ago), so I recall the dialup days all too well.

I think nonny is on dialup, as well.

I have access to a broadband connection when I'm either at work or at home cuddled up to my cable modem. It's the times when I'm other places that is the problem. I'm at my father's right now on dial-up connected at a brisk 28.8 which is better than the 14.4 that I get connecting via my cell phone.

I used to have a Sierra Wireless Air Card, and that would only rarely reach 14.4. I mean, my first Internet machine (Windows 3.1, Slip connection, Navigator 0.9) was 14.4 in 1994. I finally upgraded to a Sony-Ericcson Wireless Air Card, and its good for about 100K (twice good dial-up). ... JD Hurst

My dial-up routinely gives me 45,333. But I have NO broadband, NO DSL, No nuthin' "high-tech"!

I couldn't wait for Comcast to upgrade the cable system here in AZ. Before cable internet, the best I could manage was 24.6 due to the crappy phone lines here. At busy times like in the afternoon around 4-5
you were lucky if it was 19.2. Now since Comcast boosted the speed for regular homeowners, I routinely connect around 2.5-2.8 mbps and it is great. I could never go back to dialup now.

well, until a few months ago, i was on dialup at 8-11kbps... but now i have been endowed with the blessing of RoadRunner

Sometimes I think it is actually good to have slow internet connection. i have been using broadband for about 5 years now and I am pretty sure that I am spending more time in front of my computer a lot more than when I had dial up.

It is great to have broadband since it allows you to browse, search the internet much quicker. But it also can become very addicting. I am pretty sure that in the future computer / internet will become number 1 cause of obesity, kind of like TV at this time.

Too much of a good thing is actually bad for you...

Well, I have a DSL connection at my house shared among my various computers. Among those computers are my two ThinkPads,which acces it via 802.11b, which on these things, is like hanging a brand new chandelier in a haunted house. The connection speed is ample for DSL to run, but on these laptops, it's like a 56k modem. Blazing fast, as in 3mbps on my Athlon XP desktop though.

well i'm connecting from an IBM location and the 40gig backbone seems to be working very nicely here

Not bad at all! I have a gigabit connection in the Netherlands atm, it is when I go back to Greece that the number 33600 haunts me. UK is not too bad, I got a 768k there.

Tucson eh? I'm here in Tucson too... where abouts do you live? I'm surrounded by Saddlebrook which has monopolized the cable in my area so I can't get Comcast or Cox and they won't let my community have access to their cable. Ohhhh does Satellite ever stink for uploads!
