Sony SDM-S73 - Not working - Help Requested

#1 Post by sparta.rising » Sun Aug 31, 2008 7:03 pm

So my old Sony LCD SDM-S73 is on the fritz. It served me for a few years and then was passed down to the parents when I replaced my desktop with a Thinkpad T43. Its currently having issues. When you power it on, it will display the picture for a second, and then switch to black. Cycling the power will bring back the same behavior. To me this sounds like a problem on the power board, which probably wouldn't be fixable, but I would love to get it running again. Manufactured date is September 2003 so I doubt its covered by a warranty. Despite being 5 years old, the picture is very nice and it'd be a shame to lose it. Any ideas?

Someone recently repaired an external LCD by replacing some leaking capacitor only.
