This (non-ThinkPad) thing is solid as a rock...

Showing my cousin from overseas around a few weeks ago I managed to drop my Canon PowerShot G9 digital camera, from chest height (I'm 6 feet tall), very hard onto solid concrete.

The thing bounced around, the battery/memory card bay popped open and the battery flew out. After it came to a stop I picked it up and the case was dented all over, with a fairly large gash across the lens ring area. Luckily the camera was off with lens retracted when this happened.

I pop in the battery, press the power button, hold my breath, and... bling! The familiar startup sound comes up, the thing loads up, and is working like nobody's business. Took it home, tested everything -- taking pictures, movies, macro mode, flash, program settings, etc. -- everything is flawless. Just sent it in to repair the cosmetic damages -- they replaced the camera body and it is good as new. I am very impressed with the build quality of this thing.

Anyone else, whether out of neglect or just general clumsiness, do this to a gadget and have it survive? We know ThinkPads are tough, what else?
