Impressed
I was given a pair of these
http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/sho ... /index.jsp
I have been listening to them for roughly 3 hours
I have very eclectic tastes:
Glen Campbell - Still With in the sound of my Voice
Gordon Lightfoot - Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald
MC Hammer - Have you seen Her
Jackson Brown - Lawyers in Love
James Taylor Live - Sweet Baby James
Jennifer Page - Crush
Journey - Remember Me
Keith Green - Prodigal Son
Kenny Loggins - Return to Pooh Corner
Kiss - A world without heros
Meat Loaf - On a hot summer night
Melissa Etheridge - I run for life
Micheal W Smith - Do you remember me
Oleta Adams - Get Here
Paul Hardcastle - 19
Genisis - No Son Of mine
Queen - Radio Gaga
Queensrych - Silent Lucidity
Starland Vocal Band - Afternoon Delight
Jefferson Starship - No Way Out
Eagle - Remix of Hotel California
The Who - Teenage Wasteland
Tim McGraw - Live like you were dying
Toni Braxton - Another sad song
Tupac Shakur - California Love
Eagle - Waiting in the weeds
Alan Parsons - The Raven
Basshunter - Anna
Bob Segar - Turn the Page
Boston - The man Ill never be
Boyzone - No Matter What
Britney Spears - Lucky
Dana Glover - Thinking it over
Duran Duran - Come Undone
ELO - Telephone Line
George Strait - Amarillo By morning
You can clearly pick out the instuments, but that may be because my background was always around music. The other thing i can tell is what the original source material was.
I can hear the pop and hiss from an album/lp
Much more importantly though I can hear the warmth in the vinyl.
It is unmistakable and something I have not heard since I made the switch to CDs
Good live recordings are the most remarkable, followed very closely by Grand Piano and acoustic guitar.
Im [censored] impressed.
Down side is the price, would I EVER by a set.....
Not only no but hell no.
My opinion

I've got an older pair of these and they really do play more than you normally hear. Pick up any Pink Floyd album and you'll pick out little bits you've never heard before (Vinyl or otherwise).

try a nice pair of in ear phones. Ive listened to songs on some shure E5's and my own E3's and ive heard so many minute details to songs that i dont normally get to hear. Im an audio technician and i really appreciate music and fine details. Eclectic is definitely how i would describe my tastes. Folk, Jazz, Orchestral, Rock, Acoustic, Blues, you name it i can appreciate it.

I like the in-ear sound isolating one too, have the Shure E2; my husband prefers his Sony Professional Studio Monitor over-the-ear headphones.

Having spent thousands of hours using headphones in recording studios, I've pretty much lost appetite for that type of exposure...although I'll admit that the experience of good headphones can be addictive...
Nowadays I prefer floor-standing Yamaha monitors with a 12" bass...
...as they compensate quite well for my hearing loss...

Years ago I had a set of Koss (300 ohm?) very heavy with a curly cord. I then switched to several light-weigth Radio Shack branded Koss. Dont really like the in ear types, they drive me nuts.
My music on the other hand spans the gamit. The Eagles Remix is one I did with the extended intro 6 and 12 string with hand drums. The Keith Green has long symphonic passages and plenty of grand piano usage. It sounded good on the cheaper Koss, on these you can hear the keys striking the piano strings, not something most people notice, but my background helps

Roger Whittaker - For You Are So Beautiful
Maybe not your thing, but the only way to make it better than the new vinyl copy would be to swap the 6 string for a 12 string!

I use Sony over the ear MDR-V6 for audio work and they are nice, but when it comes to just listening to music in any circumstance where there is ambient noise than over the ears just dont cut it. A nice set of Shure or Westone's(westone engineered Shure's earphones a few years back and Shure still uses that design today) will give you the opportunity to truly listen to your music without cranking it just to bleed out unwanted noise.

I've been sporting the Sennheiser 595's + a Creek OBH-21 for a while now, great for gaming, even greater for music
Samuel Adams wrote:The natural liberty of man is to be free from any superior power on Earth, and not to be under the will or legislative authority of man, but only to have the law of nature for his rule.
My cousin (15 years old) in China had bought a Sennheiser Orpheus headphone and the tube amp thingy from auction in USA (obviously his parents paid for it), apparently it costs 14000 USD... had a listen really good, well what do you expect from that much cash... enough to get a car....

With Tube type amps, once again you get a warmth that is pleasing to the ear. Electronic chips just cant produce the same sound. Its odd how the older folks (Im 43) prefer the the sound while my son likes the crisper sound. In a few short years the older sounds will be a thing of the past.

It's good to get a good pair of headphones and listen to the original Van Halen albums, the ones released before they were remastered all loud and stuff.

I don't really listen to much music, but my Koss Porta-Pros have treated me very well for the price, serving as a decent medium between portability and sound. Everyone always comments on how eighties they look.
On the move, though, I usually pack my Koss Plugs into my bag. They are awful from the factory but I replaced the foam earplug things with actual earplugs I got from Walgreens. They do a very good job of blocking out the subway, and despite being earbud-sized they don't leak all the highs, so my neighbors aren't glaring at me.

The Bad Touch - Bloodhound Gang (explicit lyrics not for the faint of heart)
The Garden of Allah - Don Henly
Lorelei - Styx
The Angry Young Man - Styx
Carry on my Wayward Son - Kansas
The Wall - Kansas:
I'm woven in a fantasy,
I can't believe the things I see
The path that I have chosen now
Has led me to a wall
And with each passing day I feel a little more like something dear was lost
It rises now before me,
A dark and silent barrier between,
All I am, and all that I would ever want be
It's just a travesty,
Towering, marking off the boundaries my spirit
Would erase
To pass beyond is what I seek
I fear that I may be too weak
And those are few who've seen it through
to glimpse the other side,
The promised land is waiting like a maiden that is soon to be a bride
The moment is a masterpiece,
The weight of indecision's in the air
It's standing there, the symbol and the sum of all that's me
It's just a travesty,
Towering, blocking out the light and blinding me
I want to see
Gold and diamonds cast a spell,
It's not for me I know it well
The riches that I seek
Are waiting on the other side
There's more than I can measure in the treasure of the love that I can find
And though it's always been with me,
I must tear down the Wall and let it be
All I am, and all that I was ever meant to be, in harmony
Shining true and smiling back at all who wait to cross
There is no loss
