POP is either Post Office Protocol (as in email POP3) or, more likely in your case, Proof Of Purchase.

Offer the computer a soda like Harry suggested first. If it doesn't respond, grab your proof of purchase code and input that. Post Office Protocal was my first thought too, but I don't see how it would need that
Cell phones are my specialty. Got questions? Ask away.

The following comment I found with Google would seem to indicate that it is asking for your "Post Office Protocol" information. In other words, it is asking for your POP server (i.e. pop.earthlink.net) and related email account info.
Items that I've come across- the machine can poll a Pop account and automatically print any text email...

Asking for "Proof of Purchase" is possible I guess, but to me it doesn't seem like the type of question that would be asked during installation. Besides, how could you provide Proof of Purchase without sending in a copy of the receipt?

yes, it is asking for your POP3 info (incoming and outgoing) as this type of machine can format copies to .pdf and send them to an email address; therefore it needs this network info.

I got this from the specs on the machine:

"It helps you save time and reduce errors with instant direct access to virtually infinite number of e-mail and fax addresses stored in your LDAP network address books."
