nice to know people want to put a face to their ebay id, as it proves you are loyal, honest and don't want shunned from these community forums, which seems to be packed full of people who know their stuff :)

I don't have any eBay, I've just heard too many horror stories about them? Are they really worth using? As i'm searching for something at the moment and I think that might be a good place to try? I just don't want to pay for something, and it to turn up broken or not turn up at all, and not get my money back.

My ebay ID is "medessec2012". Big surprise. lol. :) I sell a variety of electronics that I just have laying around... but I also sell Thinkpads that I have fixed up.

As for your post Daz- ebay isn't all that bad, you just gotta be smart and think before you buy. Me and my dad started using ebay when I was 13, and we made a lot of stupid purchases, and overlooked auction descriptions, for example, looking at the picture and seeing a laptop lid, and thinking it's a whole laptop.

But most of the time-sellers aren't conmen, if you receive an item and something's wrong with it, just contact the seller through ebay, and the seller will usually be more than welcome to compensate you or assist in returning the item. For example, I bought a Thinkpad G40, and when I received it, the screen turned out to be broken, and the auction described the screen as working. I contacted the seller, and without even asking me for a picture or proof that the screen was actually bust, he credited me $20 through PayPal to buy a replacement.

The best thing to do with ebay is usually to stick with sellers that have a ton of positive feedback, look for the colored stars next to their name on the item page, and the number of feedback reports they've received, as well as the percentage. Ebay also badges their prime sellers with "Top-Rated Seller", so you can easily make out which sellers are best to buy from. One thing to avoid is vague auctions; ones with little information or no picture. Although sometimes they can be a fantastic deal, it's pretty much bordering on a gamble.
Trying my hardest to collect Thinkpads, but college and being broke kinda gets in the way. However...

Kind of related to eBay discussions, since they're the same company now:

I'm evolution600. I have through the years bought a lot of Thinkpad and various general computer stuff off of eBay, but not sure if I have ever dealt with anyone from this forum.

My id is Lexsullivan I use ebay mainly to buy but i think I will eventually sell something but didnn't found what yet

as like some of you too there are a lot of things i may have bought a bit too fast i guess for my part that i will never learn from my mistakes :p

Before buying computer and thinkpad stuff I used it mainly to buy car related stuff and parts. Wow so much money i spent on there after all these years thinking back, but never disappointed by my purchases
Thinkpads I own
T30 2366-66U (soon for sale), 2366-96U (came with original box and docs)
T43p 2669-Q1U (dead until i find someone to resolder the gpu), 2668-Q2U (a joy to use)
And A LOT of accessories. Yeah I'm kinda crazy

I'm rambo47 here, on eBay, and just about on every other forum to which I belong. I like the KISS principle. :D

I used to buy computer stuff on eBay but I find better deals and better people here. The Marketplace was the main reason I joined but then I found a wealth of information here and some dedicated volunteers that have helped me out with questions. I'm a Mac guy at heart, but I have an obsession with ThinkPads.

Unfortunately a relatively small percentage of sellers is ruining it. Like the 95-100% of counterfeit winblows 7 sellers out there at present. And the ones overseas who want to do like that old Steve Miller song...

I'm the same id as here and use a variation of this for most things. I use it mostly to buy, and then mostly for Canon F-series SLRs & accessories, but I do get some ThinkPad related stuff from there.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

I dislike Reddit a lot: too many annoying rules / automation and a weird voting / popularity ranking system + a lot of profanity.
Not to mention the stupendous amounts of pictures of cats, dogs, stickers and "new" laptops.
And the repeat of a repeat of a repeat of the same useless brainless questions for advice...
