Hey all - I got a new (used) graphics card (ATI FireGL 9700 X1 128MB AGP) that has a dual DVI-I output but it has a draw/redraw issue on the upper portion of the screen. It has yellow fuzzy boxes that add to a window if the window is passed through them toward the start bar and will erase if the window is scrolled up. My monitor is a Advueu LCD that has a VGA interface.
I've tried installing one driver so far but I am somewhat stuck until the others finish which will take a couple days since I'm on 20k dial up. So far I've had no luck searching the net.
If I swap back to the previous card I had installed (ATI X1550 256MB) the display is fine.
I'm uploading a photo right now and will post a link to it once I it's finished.
*EDIT* Here's the link:

Duct tape is kinda like the force. It's got a light side, a dark side, and it holds the whole universe together...

5 possibilities:
- the DVI-VGA adapter or cable does not 'connect' properly or is faulty (check that all the pins are there)
- the card is faulty
- you need different drivers
- your LCD cannot handle the resolution (also check the refresh rate)
- your motherboard does not have the required AGP Pro slot, and thus the card is under-powered

I've ruled out the drivers and the DVI-VGA converter, as well as the resolution and refresh rate leaving the card to either be faulty or this particular motherboard cannot handle the chip set. Unfortunately out of all my hardware I do not have another motherboard with AGP 8x, just some older 4x boards.
I think it may just be the compatibility of the motherboard and the GPU, I've been reading and I've come to the conclusion it does not support the FireGL chipset which seems odd as I've never seen compatibility issues between a motherboard and a graphics chip.
As with the AGP or AGP Pro issue, AGP Pro uses another row of pins on the adapter so it wouldn't fit anyway, as well as this card draws power from a connector from the power supply anyway.
I figured out the problem with my CAD and Solidworks applications with my other video card anyway so I won't need my "new" one.
