Looking for wireless headphones?!?

#1 Post by tfflivemb2 » Sat Nov 29, 2008 10:22 pm

OK, I need some help here. My wife's biggest request for this Christmas is a pair of wireless headphones. She isn't too picky, but I have NO IDEA what I am looking for.

Wants:
-The primary use is to listen to the TV downstairs while she is working out on the treadmill. (The TV is in the basement UNDER my 14mo daughter's bedroom)
-It would also be nice if they could be used with her iPod, but isn't necessary.
-Not too expensive (but that is my request on everything, right?), preferrably under $50
-Not too bulky, since they are for working out.

Any suggestions?

These look pretty cool. A bit above your price range though.

YIKES! The $199 pair would cover ALL of her requests, but it is certainly out of my league...lol

I am tempted to get a pair myself. The $129.99 set will work with my Nokia 6085 cell phone and my T42 ThinkPad (I think). 8)

Steve, I have a set that are just sitting here doing nothing. The are A/R (Acoustic Research) wireless/rechargeable. Not really too small though, so I don't know how conducive they'd be to working out. They have full ear pieces and head band. If it will help you out you are welcome to them. PM me if interested. Here's the same set on EBay

Sennheiser RS120 -- my friend has a pair and they are awesome. $50!

They are very comfortable, not heavy at all, and I guess you can put them and on work out for a little while ... as with most sennheiser headphones, the sound is great. I still am using my 2+ year old HD201's that I bought for $17 from amazon. Even after using them for ~5 hours a day, every day, they are still awesome.

If your budget is higher, sennheiser makes even nicer wireless headphones ... have a look here: Amazon search link

on a blind recommendation i would say go with sennheiser. But, truth be told we went through multiple pairs of headphones trying to get the pair that would just work; without noise, decent range, decent price...... we came up with the simple Radio Shack ones. I think they were around $50. I cant remember if they were the 900 mhz ones or the 2.4 ghz ones? I can find out for sure though. We went through all sorts of brands, including sennheiser, and i was completely surprised to find out the Radio Shack ones worked the best.

Any feedback on these:

Logitech Freepulse

Scosche BTHPK

EDIT: iPod connectivity and Bluetooth, are ONLY bonuses. Her primary use would be with the TV and/or stereo...but, lightweight

well in general logitech makes decent products. expect unusually short bluetooth range and 6 hours of use out of the batteries is pretty short and expect shorter, but the clarity should be nice as most other wireless technologies tend to pick up interference. imho, scosche usually is not so hot in the quality department.
