Navigation Keys
Those Internet back and forward buttons on my laptop... I hate them! Seriously, so many times, I would accidentally hit those keys when aiming for the cursor keys and I'd lose the contents of my post. So in a fit of rage I ripped them off my T42 and ate them! (I didn't really eat them..)

Can't the keyboard customizer utility turn them off? Beats swallowing the keycaps

I absolutely despise the mice that have them on the sides almost right where one's thumb rests. The computer labs at my old university had Microsoft ones and at least once each session I used the computers there, I'd bump the Back button. My Logitech Laser mouse that I have now has them discreetly just below the scroll wheel, which is much more useful design IMO.

I agree, in fact I 'like' the mice with the forward/back buttons on the side too, but prefer Logitech over Microsoft. Design is everything in a mouse, with Logitech there is a curved resting spot for the thumb that helps the user to avoid inadvertent button presses.basketb wrote:I'm probably in the minority here but I totally love the back/forward keys.
I love those keys ... esp the one for forward.

I can´t live without the back/forward keys on my ThinkPad keyboard! They come very handy in windows explorer (I don´t use them much in browsers though) and it´s nice the have their functionality in Linux as well. Nevertheless, I prefer clean mice with only two buttons + the scroll one (like my ThinkPad Travel mouse) and if possible in the right place (no futuristic solutions, thanks)
and I hate mice with integrated back/forward buttons as these are often placed very annoyingly on both sides of the mouse and thus make a hell out of my browsing

There are browsers that keep the contents of form fields if you accidentally happen to go back and then forward again.AlphaKilo470 wrote:Those Internet back and forward buttons on my laptop... I use Opera 9.62. AFAIK, Opera's default settings saves the form info when you go backwards and forwards. I say AFAIK, because I have upgraded Opera a number of times and it might be old settings that are kept. At any rate it works great! BTW, other browsers such as IE can do this if configured so.
Like most others here, I like having the browser keys enabled. I go forward and back often while in the middle of writing a post (sometimes several pages), and I have no problem. I can even go forward and back on my bank website and most credit card websites - instantly! I really love this feature. Saves a lot of time - especially since I am using a cellular connection 2/3rd's of the time.
For security sake, I close all tabs, then close the browser after logging off a financial site. I then reopen the browser and go back to the forums, or wherever.

Since I'm on a T23 almost 95% of the time, I don't miss the dedicated browser buttons. Instead I use this:
Forward = Alt-Right Arrow
Backward = Alt-Left Arrow
Just as fast to hit those key combinations and I don't ever mistakenly move away from the page that I'm on.

Have they ever fixed that bug which caused .JPG files to be rendered reversed (or was it upside-down???) ? I had tried a very early version of Opera back when I was still occasionally using Lynx on a dial-up UNIX account.goofyGAguy wrote:Opera kicks Internet Explorer @zz.

I clean installed 9.52 and it has it, so it has to be by default.GomJabbar wrote:I use Opera 9.62. AFAIK, Opera's default settings saves the form info when you go backwards and forwards. I say AFAIK, because I have upgraded Opera a number of times and it might be old settings that are kept.
I never saw a problem like that (used 3.65 and then from 5.12 onwards).rkawakami wrote:Have they ever fixed that bug which caused .JPG files to be rendered reversed (or was it upside-down???) ?
