Hello - First Post

Hello everyone, my name is Al and I’m a first time poster but a long time cruiser of this forum. I am a Tech Support Analyst and I’ve been working the field now for 15+ years. My first job in IT was at a laptop repair depot for Digital which I landed by answering an add looking for people who like to build models. I believe to have found my true calling as one would say, and hopefully I will continue in this field for years to come as long as it can still pay my bills. I like working with laptops the most and IBM ThinkPads have always been my favorite challenge.

As I have been cruising this forum I have noticed that most members to the forum use sigs to ID their ThinkPad laptops and their current configurations. Question, is it frowned upon to list any other laptops one might own that are not IBM ThinkPads?

Of ThinkPad’s, I currently have a T40 and an older 600e which is on loan to friends. I presently have plans to get the 600e back and modify it to its fullest potential. I also have a Toshiba Tecra 8100 and a very old Digital HighNote Ultra 2000, the Rolls Royce of its day.

I look forward to contributing to this forum but as I look at some of the threads I can see that a lot of you are very much into the forensics of why things do the things they do and I know I will be learning a lot from you all as well.

welcome to the forum. ive seen a lot of people with laptops different than lenovo in their signatures im sure nobody will be giving you hard time.

Nope, it's not frowned on at all. There are a lot of forum members (including one moderator, I think) who have owned ThinkPads in the past and may own ThinkPads in the future but just don't own one right now.

Yes - although Macs are just birds of a different feather, we have to live by some sort of rules of decency.

list what you have..
as you can see from my sig line it is not frowned upon even if it IS a MAC..
