Get Acronis True Image Home 10 Free

Acronis is giving away copies of Acronis True Image 10 Personal Edition because it's got a new version out. That means you (or backup-needing friends) get whole disk image backups from a friendly interface...

I believe that belongs to the intelligent kind of marketing! However, I see a small ethical problem with that: there are many users that had purchased this product, now Acronis is giving away copies of it for free

That is the direct link. From TFA, "The giveaway was launched for users of Personal Computer World, a UK tech magazine." This freebie is getting posted on sites all over the Internet, not just the UK, so presumably the server is getting flooded.

For some unfathomable reason the EVEN Versions of Acronis TrueImage seem to be the better ones.
Version 8 was good, 9 had problems, 10 is/was so far the best, 11 had problems.
The new 12 (or 2009) is still an unknown.

Regardless, it's worth it to have this. Check eBay or the software surplus companies, such as http://store.purplus.net/

To download it, wait until the most of Europe is asleep in another 4 hours or so

I switched to MS's imageX or wbadmin depending on the application... free,fast and reliable.

Version 8 was good, 9 had problems, 10 is/was so far the best, 11 had problems.

I have never had any problems with 9 (did nearly 100 backup/restore cycles) but a lot of problems with 11. I use Bootable CDs only.

I just got onto the Acronis website.
The freebie they offer is:
Acronis True Image 10 Personal Edition
which is probably a function-limited version of the 10 Home version!

Yes, I finally got in and made the initial request late (in NA) on the night of the offer.

The procedure is a bit convoluted. Despite the website saying that they will send the e-mail immediately it took overnight to get to me. That e-mail `is sent ... to confirm that you really want to receive a serial number for the software. Please click the link below hxxp://www.acronis.co.uk/mag/confirm/xxx to confirm the request.`

Clicking that took me to a `registration complete`page that contains the password to my new online account with Acronis UK. A few more hours later came their e-mail with the serial number. Then I had to login to the account in order to download the software. It turns out I didn`t have to wait for the final e-mail because the serial is also included in the online account. The download itself is nearly 100MB but at least that server was able to push out the bytes at a reasonable speed.

They sure make you work hard to get this freebie.
